After the tree removals are done you're staring at an unsightly stump sticking up in your yard. Let’s be honest – a tree stump looks ugly. It's a reminder that there once stood a tree. A tree stump is a real nuisance and hazardous at the same time. It can be a tripping hazard to anyone walking around the yard.
After the tree is removed, the stump will start decaying. A decaying tree attracts insects or pests looking for a new place to harbor. They can move into the stump and can spread to healthy trees too, which leaves you with a nasty insect problem. And of course, tree stumps can also take up space that can be used for other more important purposes. With all these issues in mind, removing the stump is definitely necessary not just for aesthetic reasons but also for safety purposes. The primary purpose is to eliminate any safety hazards that may exist, and also open up the area and make more space available.

But how are stumps removed after a tree has been removed in a residential or commercial property?
There are two different methods we use to remove any stumps in your yard or lot. We can remove any unwanted stump by grinding it away with special grinding equipment, or by removing it by digging and using our machinery like excavators.
The first method is the most invasive and costly to perform, which is the entire stump removal including most of the roots. Stump removal entails digging in order to get to the root system of the tree. The process can be complicated by different types of hardened soil or rocks or any other obstructions making extraction more difficult.
The second method is to grind off the stump. Stump grinders have disks with sharp teeth attached, that rotate at high speeds. Of which are used to grind away at the stumps making small wood chips. Although its a bit messy, this option is obviously less invasive and is typically less expensive than entire stump removal. So nothing protrudes from the earth anywhere, our stump grinding process continues as far as possible below the surface of your lawn. The stump grinding process removes all visible parts of the tree and distended roots. Though the remaining root system deep underground will will decay naturally.
Once this is completed a layer of soil is added on top of the surface area of the grinded stump. This will provide the opportunity to replant some grass, shrubbery or even some flowers.
We can also give you the mulch (wood chips) after the stump and roots have been grinded. This organic mulch is a nutrient-rich compound that makes a wonderful addition to your garden. Wood chips will help hold in moisture or can only be utilized for decorative purposes in flower beds or garden pathways.
Stump grinding will give you peace of mind, beautiful gardens, more space in your landscape to utilize and will ensure that insects and pests don't get too comfortable in a decaying stump.
